There is little debate; this is one of Lancashire’s most impressive historic buildings, dating from the 16th Century. The Great Hall features some beautiful and intricate wooden carvings. It is thought that William Shakespeare would have once performed here in the building. Today, there is an impressive collection of antique furniture and paintings on show to the visiting public. The grounds are laid out in a Victorian style.
