This exhibition gives visitors the chance to step back in time to war torn Britain in the 1940s. The Stockport Air Raid Shelters have been carved into the natural sandstone cliffs in the town centre. They are the largest purpose built World War Two civilian underground bunker to be built anywhere in the country. After the war, the shelters were boarded up and forgotten for decades. Now they have been re-opened to the public to give an insight into the way people lived during those troubled times.
