At Turton Tower the original Pele tower from which the building developed dates back to the 12th century, later being transformed (in the 16th century) into an extravagant Tudor country residence. Today the house features a magnificent collection of paintings, furniture and woodcrafts dating from the Renaissance through to the present day. The house also has period rooms and nine acres of magical woodland gardens.
