The ruins of the rectory that survive at Warton were built most probably in the 14th century. It was for many years the dwelling and courthouse of the wealthy rectors of Warton. The many rooms certainly display their prosperity; there is a buttery, a pantry, service rooms, a great hall and it is also thought that there was an external kitchen and a well. The limestone and sandstone frame of the building remains in very good condition and can be entered by the public for viewing.
