The Water Tower is one of the most recognisable structures on the city walls in Chester, standing on the northwest corner of the old city. It was built in order to secure the water supply to the city when the course of the River Dee began to significantly change in medieval times. The original structure was built around 1326, and the building is open on occasion to be viewed internally.
