Austins Department Store is a landmark in the centre of Derry, and is the worlds oldest independent department store at almost 200 years old, predating Harrods of London by 15 years, and Jenners of Edinburgh by 5 years. From the cafe on the top floor, outstanding views of Donegal and beyond are on display. A recent renovation has restored the building to its original glory, with the second floor balconies completely refurbished, the stone walls cleaned, and the corner turret brought back to life. The store features many products ranging from fashions to purfumes, kitchenware and ornaments.
