The Somme Heritage Centre is located just outside Newtownards and helps to illustrate the harsh realities of the Great War, commemorating the many millions who were lost in the terrible conflict. The exhibitions are extensive and wide ranging, including a multi-media recreation of the Battle of the Somme, walk-through trench experiences, read and hear accounts of veterans experiences and see many real artefacts recovered from the battle.
