Latest Ashington Review

Ashington is a fairly small town in the North East of England and I was suprised to learn that it was once the largest mining village in the world!.
I enjoyed a visit to the Woodhorn Colliery Museum and the Woodhorn Lodge pub next door serves delicious meals. There is also a nice range of shops on a pedestrianised street and a selcetion of restaurants in which to enjoy an evening meal.

The old mining town of Ashington offers a selection of shops in a pedestrianised area and a number of restaurants. Market day is worth a visit on a Tuesday and nearby Woodhorn Colliery Museum provides a great family day out. The Woodhorn Lodge is a lovely place to enjoy a meal and the children will be entertained in the playground. Other great places to visit include Wansbeck Riverside Country Park and the Queen Elizabeth II Country Park (weather permitting!).
