The beach at Bamburgh is overlooked by the impressive Bamburgh Castle. It is a beautiful beach, if a little chilly at times, and offers over a mile of flat, litter-free sand from the shore to the edge of Bamburgh, when the tide is out. Along the coastline, the beach extends all the way to Seahouses, which is 3 miles away, so it’s great for walkers. As well as views of the castle, you can see out to Lindisfarne and Holy Island, and the Farne Islands. The water is clean but there are no lifeguards and facilities are minimal. Parking is available opposite the castle for a modest fee.

Bamburgh beach is a picturesque and vast stretch of white sand. It is a great location for surfing and swimming is safe in good weather, however there are no lifeguards on duty. Fishing is also popular here and grey seals often pay a visit. It is good for bird watching and amenities such as cafes and toilets are plentiful. The town of Seahouses is nearby and has the best fish and chips, great after a busy day on beach!
