Bamburgh "pant" is situated on the village green in the heart of Bamburgh. A pant is a local dialect term for a water supply that may, or may not, be continuous. It may have got its name because people were panting for breath by the time they got to it. As you approach Bamburgh from the south, you pass the castle on the right, and then the road forks to the left and runs by the shops, or continues further up the coast. It’s at this fork that the pant is situated.
