This unique museum recreates living conditions in the North of England in 1825 and 1913. Set in more than 300 acres, it features some buildings that pre-date Beamish, but the majority have come from elsewhere in the region and been rebuilt within the grounds. All the buildings contain real furniture and machinery, with staff on hand in costume from the era to answer any queries. Visitors can experience, for example, life in an early 20th Century colliery village and farm, or an early 19th Century manor house and railway.
