Kielder Water has a 27-mile shoreline making it the largest man-made lake in Western Europe. It is situated within the UK’s largest forest, which covers an area greater than 230 square miles and contains more than 150 million trees. It is one of the few places where visitors will see the native red squirrel, as well as various bird species, including birds of prey. Visitors can also undertake a variety of other activities – cruising on Kielder Water, cycling, horse riding and visiting the Duke of Northumberland’s former hunting lodge.
