Norham was built in the position that it is found because of the commanding view that it affords across the River Tweed. The fantastic piece of military architecture was one of the stronger of the border castles and was besieged on more than thirteen occasions. The 12th Century architecture has survived to an extent, offering an imposing sight amongst the backdrop of the beautiful countryside.
