Ryhope Engines Museum is based in the Ryhope Pumping Station that was built in 1868 to supply water to both Sunderland and the many surrounding communities. After nearly a hundred years of continuous use, the station close, and is now considered one of the finest industrial monuments in the northeast of England. The museum displays a great many of the original equipment that was used, and tells the fascinating story of the industry.
