A National Trust property today, this magnificent house has been preserved so that future generations can appreciate the significance of it. One of the earliest advocates of steam powered transport, George Stephenson will always be remembered for his brilliant and innovative piece of design the “Stephenson’s Rocket”. This, his birthplace, is where he spent his formative years, developing a fertile mind.
