Founded in 1877, the Sunderland Volunteer Life Brigade has a long and interesting history, saving lives for generations off the coast of northeastern England. Most famously the members of this small brigade were instrumental in the saving of many lives when the Adelfotis II ran aground in the area. The Sunderland Volunteer Life Brigade boathouse carries a small but interesting collection of historic and current life-saving artefacts, and a small gallery of photographs.
