The eastern end of the Cheviots lie about 8 miles south-west of Berwick and the range stretches west across into the Borders Region of Scotland. They are green, rolling hills, the highest being The Cheviot (2580 feet), seen here from Housey Crags. The Pennine Way skirts the summit on the western side as it approaches its northern end at Kirk Yetholm. The whole area can be very boggy after bad weather but is otherwise ideal for hill-walking.
