The Sage Gateshead is a stunning centre, designed by Lord Norman Foster, for live music. The building towers over the River Tyne. It consists of two performance spaces of acoustic excellence, the Northern Rock Foundation Hall for rehearsal performance, a 25 room Music Education Centre, ExploreMusic, which is a music information resource centre, and The Barbour Room, which is used for entertainment. There are also studios, bars, a café and a brasserie. You can visit the building free.
