On the site of the original Loftus mine, this nationally important museum offers visitors an exciting and authentic underground experience. Discover the special skills and customs of the miners who helped make Cleveland the most important ironstone mining district in Victorian and Edwardian England. Explore an underground working place, hear the Trappy lad’s tale, see how the stone was drilled and charged and hear the sound of the blast. Open April to October - see web site for full details.
