Whitburn is a small fishing village on the North Sea coast in Tyne & Wear, a short distance from Sunderland. It’s most famous attraction is the Souter Lighthouse on the coastal rocks. The village itself has a lovely green with a pub, church, pond and many historic cottages and houses.

  Latest Whitburn Review

Whitburn is my favourite village in South Tyneside. It is excellent for fishing and my children spend hours exploring the rock pools. There is a friendly pub in the village and the most popular attraction is SOuter Lighthouse. There are some good hotels in the area, making it an excellent choice for a short family break. Explore the wider area and discover cities such as Sunderland, Gateshead and Newcastle, all within easy reach.   - Chrissie
