Whitley Bay is a former resort town on the North Sea coast in Tyne & Wear, a short distance from Newcastle. It has a lovely beach and many small guesthouses and hotels, but is not as popular is in its heyday. Whitley Bay today is largely residential, but still makes a great day out in fine weather.

  Latest Whitley Bay Review

Whitley Bay is a welcoming seaside town in North East England. There are a selection of high quality hotels, B&Bs and a large caravan park. We loved spending time on the vast sandy beach and our trip to the top of St Mary's lighthouse was lots of fun. There are 2 miniature golf courses, perfect for beginners and families. During the rainy days we spent time in the leisure centre and the amusement park and discovered a lovely fish and chip shop.   - Peter and Paula
