The Orkney Islands are one of the most remote areas of the British Isles, and have a long and interesting history that is separate from that of the rest of the country. This museum holds a large collection with many smaller exhibitions dedicated to different areas of life on the islands. There are old fishing tools, farming equipment, photographs and archaeological finds on display, amongst many others.
