The Shetland Museum is a local authority Museum funded and administered by the Shetland Islands Council. It is the largest museum in Shetland and covers most aspects of island life. It was formally opened on 29th June 1966, in a building, which it shares with the Shetland Library. The opening came after many years of struggle to establish a museum for the safe storage and display of Shetland relics.
