A Royal Standard de Inglaterra é a mais antiga casa livre na Inglaterra e tem servido o público desde o saxões utilizado o local de cerveja bem mais de 900 anos atrás. Ele é o único pub no país a ostentar este título completo, o Rei Charles II tendo acordado um nome mudança da Ship alegadamente em gratidão por estar aqui abrigados em seu lance fugir para França em 1651. Existem highwaymen conexões também, com Dick Turpin disse ter apresentado aqui entre saídas na garganta Cut-Wood na vizinha Holtspur.
