Ardingly Reservoir was completed in 1978 and saw 198 acres of land along the course of the River Ouse damned to form a reservoir. Today the area is a local beauty spot with a wide variety of flora and fauna and a huge number of birds that attracts birdwatchers from across the country. Fishermen also flock to the reservoir as it is home to large numbers of carp, tench and pike. Along the east bank of the water there is a public footpath along a picturesque route.

I love exploring manmade lakes and reservoirs and Ardingly, at around 200 acres, is one of the largest in the South East. The River Ouse was dammed here to hold back a large amount of water. Today the lake is home to a huge variety of wildlife, whilst sailing lessons can be had at the local activity centre. If you're feeling energetic, you can also walk down one side of the lake but sadly not a complete circuit as the land on the other side is in private hands. - Owen78
