I recommend a visit to Ashford if you are in the area. It’s our nearest “big town”, so we visit quite frequently. There are a good range of shops, especially at the MacArthur Glen retail park, as well as a cinema and leisure complex which is only a couple of minutes away from the motorway. The town centre has most of the major chain stores, as well as a good range of restaurants and pubs. As a family, we like the swimming pool at the Stour Centre – it has...

Ashford has often been overlooked. I am an Ashford resident and whilst its shops and high street might not compare with those of Canterbury or Maidstone, the town does still have a unique charm, with many hidden attractions that are worth a look. I would particularly recommend Victoria Park, the Stour Centre and the brand new Ashford Library and Community Centre, whilst history buffs will absolutely love the World War One tank located close to the top of Ashford High Street.
