Bank Street has more historic buildings than any other street in Maidstone. Some are medieval, others Victorian, but nearly all are listed for architectural excellence or historical interest. Notable ones include No 73, with its Queen Anne shop front, and the Georgian National Westminster Bank, which has a fine vaulted interior. There and also medieval timber-framed buildings here hidden behind 18th and 19th-century façades – their overhanging upper floors still in evidence.
