Battle Wine Estate in the East Sussex town was founded in 1983 with vines imported from Germany and has since then been honoured with many awards for the quality of their English white and red wines. The vineyard grows their Reichensteiner, Schonburger, Huxelrebe, Kerner, Pinot Noir and Zweigeltebe grapes in a system called the Geneva Double Curtain system that gives twice the yield and allows the vineyard to also produce refreshing fruit liqueurs and kir.
