Set in fantastic parkland the beautiful Georgian house of Belmont is somewhat off the beaten track but is well worth a visit. Designed by the architect Samuel Wyatt, Belmont House belonged to General George Harris, later Lord Harris, who bought the house with money from his military career in India in 1801. The house contains many examples of paintings, furniture and Indian silverware and the most extensive collection of clocks in the United Kingdom. Outside there is an Orangery, a walled garden and a Victorian Shell Grotto.
