In common with most seaside resorts across the United Kingdom, Broadstairs in Kent is proud to have an historic bandstand. Broadstairs bandstand was originally erected during the Victorian and Edwardian eras when musicians would play lively band music to tourists strolling along the Promenade and looking out to sea across Viking Bay. This tradition continues throughout Sunday afternoons between 2 and 4pm in the summer months. Bands usually come across Kent to play at this venue.

I visited Broadstairs during my summer break last year and found it to be quite charming particularly when one Sunday a whole brass band turned up at the Bandstand and started belting out some great tunes. They quickly drew in a crowd of people, all with a smile on their faces. The location of the bandstand makes it particularly effective as it has a position on the cliff top overlooking the beach below.
