I often take my family to Brockhill Country Park because it's the closest to home but also because it never gets too crowded even on the busiest days and there is space enough for all to roam. There is plenty of trees, water features and open areas plus a very hospitable cafe and toilet block near the car park. There is a small car parking charge at this park.

Brockhill Country Park is a fantastic day out free except for a modest parking fee. The Park includes a partially restored artificial lake and Victorian garden, woodland and field trails, a stream and a grassy area with picnic benches. There are toilet blocks and an impressive kids playground with a very long slide and a hobbit tunnel! Adjacent to the car park is a reasonably priced vegetarian café, which serves a delicious range of snacks and good coffee. It does get very muddy during the winter months and my children find the stream an irresistible draw, so kit the children out in wellies and take changes of clothing.
