The port town of Newhaven in East Sussex has a long history of industry and warfare and it is near to Newhaven Fort that visitors can find peace and quiet at Castle Hill Nature Reserve. The fourteen hectare Castle Hill nature reserve overlooks the English Channel and has been set aside for wildlife to flourish. The area is a site of special scientific interest and is also known for its colonies of kittiwakes and fulmars.
