Cloister Garth is one of the prettiest places in Rochester. Once the centre of a monastic community, it's now a peaceful garden enclosed by monastic ruins and the Cathedral. Look out for the Chapter House, now roofless, and the beautiful 12th century stone arches along the garden’s eastern boundary. Although Gundulf first established the community here, these buildings date from the time of Bishop Ernulf, who had been prior at Canterbury.
