Despite being a school, visitors can wonder round 150 acres of landscaped gardens and marvel at period features by noted architects. Although a house has been here since the middle ages, the present building was commissioned by the 10th Lord Cobham in 1587. In addition the hall has been home to the Earls of Richmond, Lennox and Darnley. Artefacts belonging to all these noble families are on view but of particular note are the 18th Century Darnley state coach and the 16th Century vast coloured marble chimney piece.
