Coultershaw Water Pump is a marvellous piece of industrial heritage that sometimes gets forgotten by visitors to the area. The pumping station is one of the great reminders that are left I the region of the way that the world changed so quickly during the Industrial Revolution. Suddenly the power of steam and fossil fuels were harnessed, and magnificent and practical plants like this could be established.
