Devonshire Park is a large and beautiful open area close to the main theatre district of the town and not far from the railway station. The park is the oldest in the area and was thought to have been established in the latter part of the 19th Century by the Devonshire Park Company. It is probably best known for hosting several major tennis tournaments a year including the women's precursor to Wimbledon.
