The Dover Patrol Memorial stands on the spot where the last bomb was dropped in 1918 at the end of the First World War. Throughout the war patrols of the English Channel were undertaken from Dover and the obelisk at St Margaret's Bay was one of three erected to mark the end of hostilities during The Great War. A short walk from the car park are the former homes of Noel Coward and James Bond creator Ian Fleming
