Eastbourne Pier is a fine example of one of the South Coast’s Victorian piers. Officially opened in June 1870 by Lord Edward Cavendish, it took a further two years to complete the structure. A thousand feet long, the pier makes a pleasant stroll with gift, sweet and craft shops, restaurants and amusement arcades. Every year, the pier becomes the focus of attention with its annual Birdman and Raft Race competitions.
