Maidstone's slick new shopping centre is built on the site of an old Kentish brewery. Fifty shops are now here, ranging from H&M to Hotel Chocolat, with plenty of other top high street names in between, plus restaurants and cafés. Night shopping is on Thursdays, when shops are open until 8pm. For views of the River Medway, head to House of Fraser, which overlooks it. Facilities include an 800-space car park.
