Greyfriars Chapel is what's left of the first Franciscan friary in Britain. In fact, St Francis of Assisi was still living when it was founded in 1224. Sitting on the river Stour and set within wonderful gardens, it is one of the prettiest and quietest spots in the city. Inside, there's an exhibition charting the building's history and upstairs an Anglican celebration of the Eucharist is still held every Wednesday. Entry is free but donations are welcome.
