Just outside of Cranbrook in Kent the Forestry Commission owns and operates a large area of forest called Hemsted Forest. This area mostly comprises large old coniferious trees, which are periodically felled. The Forest is open to the public who can use it for dog walking and horse riding. Paths within the forest are well maintained. There is, however, only limited parking available with the nearest train station being over 6 miles away in Headcorn.
