This unusual theatre was opened on May 12 2001. It's now the venue for outdoor events from summer jazz concerts to Christmas firework displays. It's built of brick and Kentish ragstone, with a central stage encircled by rows of terraced seating, cleverly interplanted with grass and flowers. Behind it is a rose garden and in front woodland and the River Medway. The amphitheatre is managed by Maidstone Borough Council.
