Herne Bay has a clean sand and shingle beach, which is overlooked by rows of multi-coloured beach huts. It attracts everyone from bathers to yachtsmen, with other popular activities including rowing, jet skiing, water skiing and windsurfing. The walking is good here too, with footpaths heading east and west along the exhilarating North Kent coast. The beach and seafront come alive for two weeks every August, when the Herne Bay Festival brings fireworks, funfairs and a carnival to the town.
