High Halstow, on the Hoo Peninsula, has been occupied by Romans, Saxons and Normans. The 10th Century church is dedicated to St Margaret and was referred to in the Domesday Book. Built on the highest point of the Hoo Peninsula, it overlooks the Thames and the Medway. Northwood Hill RSPB Reserve lies to the north, between High Halstow and Cooling.
