The small seaside community of Pevensey Bay in East Sussex has three churches including The Holy Rood Catholic Church. The full name of this church is actually Christ the King, Langney, with Holy Rood, Pevensey Bay. The land for the construction of the church was acquired in 1960 from local man Keith Martin, who donated the land as a memorial to his dead son. Building work, however, did not start for another six years but finally on 5th November 1967 the church was opened for the first time.
