James Wolfe was born in 1727 in Westerham, this tiny picturesque village in rural Kent. This great statue was erected to celebrate one of the areas most famous sons and put in the middle of the village where all who pass can see it. Wolfe rose to the rank of General in the British army and although he had many successful campaigns is probably best remembered for the part he played in establishing British rule in Canada.
