Lenham village, mentioned in the Domesday Book, has an extremely picturesque village square. Its market status dates back to the 11th Century. It is situated on the River Great Stour and the Stour Valley Walk starts in the village. Above the village is a 200-foot chalk cross carved into the downs to commemorate the dead of both world wars.

  Latest Lenham Review

I recently discovered that the village of Lenham has one of only a handful of Victorian mounting steps for horses in the church wall. These steps allowed people to get on to their horses back in the day and most have now been destroyed. These steps are close to a wonderful village square surrounded by quaint old English style shops and restaurants. A lovely and beautiful village and well worth a visit.   - Sanjit

I love this village, it has all the old world charm of a true Kent village with a central square a stunningly beautiful medieval church, but also the problem that affects all villages across the country too much traffic. If you can set that aside it is easy to walk around this lovely village and perhaps also venture just outside its boundaries and into the North Downs from where you can see some splendid views across the Kentish countryside.   - PB
