Levin Down Nature Reserve just outside of Goodwood in East Sussex exists mostly due to its unique geography. Levin Down is a high steep hill that proved impossible to cultivate for agriculture and therefore was given the original name of ‘Leave Alone Hill’, over the centuries this was transformed into Levin Down. The hill is a site of special scientific interest with large numbers of beautiful butterflies in the summer months as well as colonies of scrub warblers and finches.
