About a decade ago, this area of Leybourne was just a collection of long abandoned flooded quarries next to the River Medway. I remember playing with my friends in an area that was described as 'dangerous'. Today it couldn't be further from the truth, the area has been transformed into a family friendly country park with broad round lake paths, wooded areas, a park rangers office and exhibition, plentiful car parking and a refreshment kiosk. Remember to rake bread crumbs because there are hundreds of hungry birds to feed, something that kids of all ages enjoy.
