Maidstone's biggest and best entertainment and leisure centre has an eight-screen cinema, bars, a nightclub, restaurants and a gym. The ten-acre riverside complex also has a David Lloyd Leisure Club, bowling alleys and a crèche, and it hosts regular events such as Fun Weekends, competitions and celebrity appearances. The 700-year-old Lockmeadow Market, one of the best in Kent, is held here on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Up until about ten years ago Maidstone did not have an entertainment centre and I found it easier to go to other towns than visit Maidstone, that all changed when Lockmeadow was created. Now families can watch movies at the multiplex cinema, dance the night away in clubs and eat in a variety of pubs, bars and restaurants. There is plenty of car parking outside, but unfortunately this can sometimes be quite pricey. The location of Lockmeadow and a pedestrian bridge nearby allows easy access into the centre of town for the shops and other attractions.
